By kind invitation of Lorraine Fulbrook, MP, the British-American Parliamentary Group is pleased to be able to host a discussion with Commissioner Robert M. McDowell of the U.S. Federal Communications Commission(FCC) who is to address how the FCC regulates the media in the U.S.

Commissioner Robert M. McDowellis one of five Commissioners appointed by the U.S. President and confirmed by the Senate who directs the Federal Communications Commission (FCC), an independent United States government agency, which is charged with regulating interstate and international communications by radio, television, wire, satellite and cable. The FCC’s jurisdiction covers the 50 states, the District of Columbia, and U.S. possessions.
BAPG / U.S. Department of State Co-Sponsored Visit to the U.S., 12-21 September 2010
The BAPG in conjunction with the American Embassy and the United States Department of State is to send a group of eight MPs to the United States from the 12th to the 21st September 2010 (flying back in to the UK the following morning).
The prime purpose of the visit is to give members not already familiar with the United States an overview of federal and state Government and it will also include a short time with a Member of Congress in his/her district.
2010 Annual Conference, 18-21 November 2010
The Annual Parliamentary / Congressional Conference will take place in London with members of the U.S. House of Representatives. The American delegation will be led by Congressman Ben Chandler (D-Kentucky), Chairman of the House BAPG and member of the House Committee on Appropriations and the House Committee on Science & Technology .
Harvard New Members of Congress Induction Programme, 30 November to 3rd December 2010
The Group will send four members to observe an induction programme for newly elected Members of Congress conducted by the Institute of Politics at Harvard University. The programme will involve issue seminars and lectures by Harvard academics and eminent outside speakers.
Through out the year, we will host Congressional Members and senior members of the Administration passing through London.
Our Members also give Congressional visitors (and families) tours of Parliament.
Notice of events will be advertised on this site and the All Party Whip. We may also from time to time e-mail members with regard to up and coming events.
